Why wouldn't main events happen when Cleopatra was ruling? Of course there should be, even around the world and even herself. For example, when Cleopatra became queen in 51 BC (very important) and when she got driven off throne by one of her brothers in 49 BC, then regains the power in 47 BC. She had so many events that happened in her life, maybe some events aren't very important to most people, but to others this is very interesting to them. If Cleopatra doesn't seem to catch your interest, how about when Julius Caesar. He was assassinated when Cleopatra went to Rome in 46 BC-44 BC (okay, Cleopatra has to be involved in some of it, this entire blog is about her). Even though in the beginning in the blog it was too boring, but I am talking about Cleopatra's lifetime events, it would be boring if I would talk about anyone's life time events that lived centuries ago. Don't you agree? (Don't really answer that question.)

Cleopatra takes the Throne
Have you ever wondered how Cleopatra became queen? Cleopatra's father, Auletes (real name Ptolemy XII), was already the pharaoh, aka king, and Cleopatra already had 4 brothers and 3 sisters. The reason why I included her brothers and sisters, is because in Ancient Egypt if they were royal, the girls would marry their brothers for their family to stay in power (ewww!) so, 18 year old Cleopatra had to marry her elsest brother, who was 10 years old (gross!). When Cleopatra married her brother, he became the king and Cleopatra became queen.
Roles of Pharohs
A core strand of Pharonic Civilization is together with art, writing, and religion. What is that supposed to mean? It means that the Egyptians, stay together with the activities they do, for the main part. The king was considered to be a god, they probably worshipped him wherever he went. Since the king was considered to be a god then they would have made temples and statues to honor them (for example, the picture shown to the right). The Egyptians would have their Pharaoh's palace in the center of his country, probably for religious reasons.
Siblings are Important, too!
How would Cleopatra's siblings be very important in her life? (trust me, I have sisters and it is hard to survive.) It ends up Cleopatra wouldn't have been queen without them. Her brothers are named Arsinoe, Ptolemy XII, and Ptolemy XIV. Her sisters are named Cleopatra VI and Berenice IV. Wait till you here this, their father was named Ptolemy XII (also known as Auletes) and their mother was named Cleopatra V. (What is up with all of the Ptolemy's and Cleopatra's?) The reason why her siblings are so important to her is that because her two eldest sisters took the throne as queen before Cleopatra, but got driven off throne. Then, Cleopatra had to marry her eldest brother to become queen, because of her two sisters, they held up the throne till Cleopatra was old enough and because of her brother she became queen. Death of Cleopatra VII
Cleopatra killed herself, after everything she had, she killed herself! An ancient historian, named Plutarch, belived that Cleopatra had a man deliver a basket of figs and hidden in the figs was a poisonous snake, shown to the left, (of course the basket full of figs got past the guards). Then, Cleopatra held out her arm for the snake to bite her and she killed herself.
